Kashan is one of Iran’s renowned centers of Persian carpet weaving and has long been known for producing fine, high-quality carpets. Although the region’s harsh climate made agriculture difficult, traditional crafts such as pottery and tile making flourished there from an early period. Kashan also developed as an important center of trade.

Alongside carpet weaving, Kashan became known for producing luxurious textiles such as velvet and damask. Over centuries, the city developed highly refined weaving techniques, supported by a long tradition of sericulture and silk production.

From the late 19th century onward, Kashan became particularly known for its finely woven, high-quality silk carpets. Kashan carpets are characterized by elegant designs inspired by traditional Persian motifs, delicate weaving, and sophisticated colors. Silk carpets are especially admired for their intricate details and beautiful luster, combining a graceful appearance with a refined presence.
